How to choose a right engine oil for my car?

We can understand that It's a little bit difficult to make a choice for those who are quite new or don't know about their car what their mechanic is inserted. To make it easy, experts suggest that first, you should get guidance from your manufacturer guideline.

If it's not possible, you can choose greater mileage and with low viscosity motor oil, for example, a NISSAN made car with less mileage than 100000, can go for 10,000 km oil change with label 5W - 30 SL package. But if mileage or car engine age is more than 100000 and five (5) years then it is not recommended to go for 10,000 KM instead choose 5,000 KM oil package 20W - 50 SL.

Remember, above suggestion are made by keeping in view regional weather conditions (GCC & UAE) because selection also change with the hot weather and cold weather.

What Tools Do I Need to Replace Engine Oil?

  • Wrench to remove drain plug (box end or socket)

  • Oil filter wrench

  • Oil drain pan

  • Funnel

  • Latex gloves

  • Jack and jack stands or ramps (optional, depends on ground clearance)

 

Materials Required:

  • Oil

  • Replacement drain plug washer (depending on application)

Prepare Your Car

You many need to raise your car to get access to drain plug and filter, for this purpose you can use floor jack and safety stand or a pair of purpose-made steel stand or you can make an appointment for rent a space in a nearest garage affiliated with Maintenance Market.

Drain the Oil Drain Plug

To complete this step, first, you need to locate the drain plug and filter in your car. In a most widely, both are located under the engine and can be observe with a little effort.

You need to put oil drain pan quite under neath of the drain plug so oil couldn't spill out. Using the oil filter wrench remove the filter before this make sure that oil is drained completely and no more drops are falling. If required remove the pan and put the oil at safe place.

Drain the Oil Drain Plug

Close Drain Plug and install new filter using right tool for each job. Now insert Fresh engine oil using funnel till the desired quantity. Remove funnel and close the oil insertion cover.

Remove the jack  and start your engine and almost after 30 sec, then remove the dipstick and wipe it clean. Push the dipstick all the way in, wait a second, and then withdraw it and check the level. The oil should be between the two marks. That's it, You did it, Cheers !
